Work and Career: skills checklist
Career skills compound. A resume that gets interviews, an interview that gets offers, and an offer negotiated well can add up to more money over a working life than any single raise. Most of these skills are structures you can learn in an afternoon and improve every time you use them.
This category covers writing a one-page resume, preparing for an interview with three stories and three questions, negotiating a job offer, asking for a raise with evidence, writing clear work emails, giving and receiving feedback, quitting a job without burning bridges, speaking in public without freezing, and networking in a way that does not feel fake.
These pages give general advice and scripts. They are not employment law advice. If you think you were treated unfairly, not paid what you are owed, or let go illegally, contact your state labor department or an employment lawyer, because the deadlines for those claims can be short.
