First Aid and Emergencies: skills checklist
First Aid and Emergencies: 14 skills, each with steps, a quiz and a printable checklist, covering hands-only CPR, choking, bleeding, burns, AEDs, stroke and heart attack signs, fires and a go-bag.
Emergencies do not wait for someone qualified to walk in. When a person collapses at the gym, chokes at dinner or cuts a hand in the garage, the first few minutes are usually in the hands of whoever is standing closest. Knowing the first steps, and above all knowing to call for help straight away, is what changes the outcome.
This category is a refresher on the bystander skills: hands-only CPR, using an AED, helping a choking adult, stopping heavy bleeding, treating a minor burn, recognizing a stroke and a heart attack, using a fire extinguisher, putting out a grease fire, caring for a sprain, and telling heat exhaustion from heat stroke. It also covers what to say when you call 911 and how to pack a go-bag for an evacuation.
Every page follows current national resuscitation and first aid guidance, names your local emergency number, 911 in the US, and says the most important thing plainly: take a certified class. Reading a page is not the same as practicing on a manikin with an instructor watching. There are no medication doses here; follow the dispatcher's advice.
